The Osmonds Visit Winnipeg

The entire Osmond family was on hand
to film the ending of the ABC-TV movie, "Inside The Osmonds,"
Sunday, December 10, in Winnipeg, Canada.
It was a memorable day for the Osmonds, actors,
and the many extras who made up the audience,
for what is sure to be a spectacular ending.

The "Osmonds" you'll see in the movie...

The actors rehearse with Sofia Costantini (choreography), Brian Tataryn (music)
Actors left to right: Miklos Perlus (Jay), Taylor Abrahamse (younger Jimmy), Jason Knight (Wayne), Thomas Dekker (younger Donny), Patrick Levis (older Donny), Ryan G. Kirkpatrick (Merrill), and Joel Berti (Alan)

"The Osmonds are some of the nicest people I have ever met," said Thomas Dekker (younger Donny).

A special thanks to Thomas' mother, Hilary Dekker, for sharing the photos on this page.

Hilary said, "I grew up in Britain and was a teenager there at the peak of the Osmond visits, but I lived in a small rural town and longed to be one of those fans in London or Manchester knocking down the barricades and forcing open the doors to get to our idols. I was so jealous of those girls and knew that my chance of ever meeting the Osmonds was about as good as the chance of me taking a skiing vacation on Mars! But today, up in the freezing winter of Winnipeg, far from our home in Los Angeles, I found myself on stage with not one, not two, not even three of the Osmonds, but the entire Osmond family."

"I thank the Osmonds from the bottom of my heart for making this so memorable...and I thank my son, Thomas, for making it possible for me."

What a unique situation...three lear jets were in the air bound for Winnipeg, with all original Osmonds aboard to shoot the final scene of the movie. When we all walked on stage to do the taping, magic filled the whole room. All those who were playing our roles came over to give us a hug. The crowd started to scream.

We did many interviews...Entertainment Tonight...People Magazine, etc. We all wore our black long ryder outfits. Just to see all the family there was a miracle...35 degrees below zero there...amazingly cold. The feelings of unity were shown on stage...this was an important shoot.

The acting is tremendous, the script is right, it will be a good show, as close as you can get to the way it was. I hope you all enjoy the new movie on February 4, called "Inside The Osmonds." You will get an idea how our lives were on the inside as we went through the 70s. This particular decade of our lives was a whirlwind filled with highs and lows, good times and traumas. The actors depicted our lives very well, and the scenes are emotionally moving. Some situations were hard for me to look at, others brought a lot of laughing. My immediate family is watching the scenes by video as they are shot, and think that dad is pretty cool because the 70s are here again in the new millennium. What used to be hip in the 70s is hip now, except the hair (said Jason). Eric thinks I had a short in my electric blanket, and Marcus just loved it. Kandilyn can't believe what I went through, and I'm just glad that its being remembered.
