Beliefs

I grew up in Ogden, Utah and I'm an Entertainer...

After 46 years of being married to my wife, Mary, I am a father of six children and have 15 grandchildren. I’ve entertained throughout the world with my brothers for over 60 years and in the process I’ve written quite a few hit records.

My hobbies include fishing and golf. I also love photography and painting. A couple of fun facts about me are that I love to collect Mickey Mouse paraphernalia and I’ve been knighted twice by the Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem and the King of Portugal.

I just love to be around people and I hope they like being around me!

Why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ because… read more at mormon.org

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Of all the things I am most grateful for, there is one that has embedded deep within my heart and soul and which has affected me all of my life, and has made me the man I am today.

That is my Living Testimony of Jesus Christ.

It is with absolute love and humility that I share the following statement regarding my beliefs, I hope and pray you will genuinely feel of my love for you.

Throughout my life I have constantly studied and prayed that I might be led by the Spirit of God, so that I may be an instrument in his Plan of Happiness in some small insignificant way.

I also have a testimony of Satan, and declare that he is real, he will purposely deceive us and do anything in his power to make us miserable and to have doubt in ourselves and our God. Please always look for the good in people, love your neighbour and always go the extra mile.

There are so many wonderful people like yourselves who do so much good in this wonderful world, I thank you and commend you for all your goodness.

There are so many truths that are manifested through many religious beliefs and for that I have a deep respect. When Jesus Christ our Savior walked the earth he established a Church which was pure and perfect. Through centuries of debate and corruption and by those who claimed to know better, those beautiful truths that our Saviour had once established and taught were then twisted and changed, obscuring their sacred meanings and altering what we know today as Scripture.

In 1830 a young boy by the name of Joseph Smith only 14 years of age simply wanted to know the truth for himself; not being influenced by the many churches of the period, he had read a scripture in the epistle of James that said ‘if any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God’. That he did and the restoration of those truths have now been established through divine revelation; his prayers were answered. On Joseph’s shoulders rested not only the translation of The Book Of Mormon but also the restoration and reestablishment of the Church of Jesus Christ.

I want you to know that I know that God really does live, that He loves you, that He has created a beautiful simple plan for all of our Happiness and that the central figure in His plan is Jesus Christ. Without Him we would not be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven and our loved ones.

With absolute knowledge I can testify to all that read this that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true and has within its gospel all the saving ordinances to be able to return to our Father in Heaven once again. I believe this with all of my heart.

I once again testify of his divine role in bringing forth God’s words and Eternal blessings through sacred Temple Ordinances which were once taught by the Saviour during His ministry on earth.

I leave you this testimony and promise, that if you read the Book Of Mormon with an open heart and mind, then ask God with real intent if what you are reading is true, He will manifest the truth to your soul through the Holy Ghost. I love you all with all my heart. I say these things to you in the name of my Master Jesus Christ, amen.

My dear brothers and sisters I feel it’s important that I state the following message in a very clear and distinct way. Let me assure everyone listening, that Latter-day Saints are Christians. We believe in God, Angels, and divine
manifestations of all kinds. At the base of our
faith you would need to look back at the beginning when the question was
asked “if there was any true original church on the earth”  With the desire,
and act of pure faith in response to a single biblical verse which invited
any people to pray for an answer, God revealed the true church with God at
the head to a young boy named Joseph Smith. This is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  You and I were created in the image of God our Heavenly Father which is not
surprising, as children are always created in the image of their parents. As
the spiritual offspring of God we are heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs
 with Christ.
In order to gain a mortal body and experience mortal growth available in no
other way, Adam and Eve chose to leave a paradise setting to learn all that
was necessary for Heavenly Fathers children to learn and to live together.
They knew this was the only way that they could learn because mistakes would
be made in the course of our human education. Sometimes those would be
horrible mistakes, wrenching mistakes, but the good news is the Savior was
provided in the plan. One who would not only forgive all of the mistakes
Adam and Eve made in the original disobedience, but He would also be there
for every individual’s transgression made by our human experience. The
fears,  sorrows, the disappointments, the tears and tragedies of every man,
woman and child from Adam and Eve to the end of the world was at stake. Such
a plan was necessary and such a savior was required in it because life is eternal.
Our dreams mattered before we came to this earth and they will certainly
matter after we leave. All of us are children of the same God and all are
included in his love and grace. Everyone is covered but it remains to be seen  if anybody really cares. The heart and the truth of the restored gospel lies within the framework of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

There are so many that have asked me personally why I’m a Christian when supposedly our doctrine doesn’t coincide with other Christian churches. This has
been a very frustrating question for me over the years. And I’d like to address it.
If you think we are fourth and fifth century Christians then I guess we are
not. We are a restoration of the original church the Savior established on
the earth. In the days when Constantine gathered all religious factions and cut
and pasted what truth was, and what it wasn’t. divine treasures were lost.  Eternal truths our Father in Heaven wanted us to know and understood were
thrown away. That’s why there had to be a restoration. When we speak of God
the Father and his Son Jesus Christ, we believe They are separate and distinct beings with glorified bodies of flesh and bone. We take His word
that Christ came down from heaven not to do His own will, but the will of Him
 that sent Him.
When Jesus spoke of those who turned away from Him he said they have hated
both me and my father. Jesus in his prayers regularly stated that my Father is greater than not. They are one in every way other than flesh, and we feel
this agrees with the New Testament.

We also believe the heavens are open
with revelations. and God meant what he said when he promised Moses that my
work is without end and my words never cease. We believe God would not leave
us without prophets and apostles and authorized agents without His guidance and
direction. The book of Mormon is a witness that God continues to speak. We
ask on what biblical or historical grounds has the inspiration of God been
limited to the written documents of what is called the Bible only. If the Spirit
only inspired the written documents of the first century does, does that
mean that that same Spirit does not speak today of matters that are a
significant concern?  We are unique in the modern Christian world regarding
one matter and that is divine priesthood authority to provide the saving
sacraments, the ordinances of the Gospel Jesus Christ. It’s the holy Priesthood
which has been restored to the earth by those that held it anciently that I speak about.
Without the Priesthood of God, the church would exist in name only and it would be a church
lacking in authority to administer the things of God.

So are we Christians? The very base of our belief goes back to the original
Church God himself established on the face of the earth. We are the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Here are scriptural references from
the Bible that prove that the book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints hold the truth and all the truth for eternal life of
man.
